Libreria Brac

Review by Lauren Bongiorno
The restaurant is very small with a bar area and a restaurant in the backroom. It is a little difficult to find as it is not on a main road and there is really no sign that advertises the restaurant well. However, I really liked the atmosphere of the restaurant: when you walk in there is also a bookshop library so it has a cool hippie kind of feel to it. The lights are dim and there is cool music playing.
I was excited to taste the food. Our waitress spoke English and provided us with an English menu when we asked for one, which was helpful. I had heard that the salads were very tasty so I decided to try one for myself. I ordered the carpaccio di avocado and it was the best salad I have had since being in Florence. It was very big and really filled me up! The vegetables were really fresh and the tastes were exploding in my mouth! My friends ordered the agnolotti di ricotta e spinaci. This dish had fresh pasta, tomatoes, spinach and Parmigiano. The presentation of the pasta dish was really nice and the portion was pretty big too.
For the ambiance and big portion sizes the price was not bad at all! The only downside is that you have to make a reservation ahead of time, but it is definitely worth it when you do! It takes a little more time to find the location and you have to plan ahead of time to eat at Brac but I definitely will be going back and recommend it to my friends, vegetarian or not!
