Pizzeria Berberè is located in the Oltrarno district of Florence, on Piazza de’ Nerli. Clients can use Misiedo.com to book reservations online. The service here was excellent. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and sat. The server gave us enough time to look over the menu and choose what we wanted; We felt neither rushed nor neglected. Berberè’s specialty is high quality pizzas made with organic, seasonal ingredients. They recommend sharing pizzas, in order to taste a variety of flavors. They have an addendum to their menu which showcases the high quality of the ingredients they use in making the pizzas.
Our favorite pizza that we ordered was with buffalo mozzarella. The crust tasted rustic and the taste of whole grains were definitely apparent in the flavor. The buffalo mozzarella was also incredibly fresh, light and milky. And the whole pizza was topped with basil as well, melding all of the flavors together. We paired this pizza with a craft beer, another one of Berberè’s specialties. The craft beer was delicious and we were even able to taste a couple of beers before deciding on one to order. This set the meal quality at the top of the radar, in which helped the meal taste even better. They had great combinations and flavors. For dessert, we ordered the guanaya dark chocolate cake. The cake was rich with chocolate flavor, but had a airy, light consistency. It also was paired with a complimenting drizzle of apricot sauce that really helped the flavors mesh well together.
Overall, we loved every aspect of Pizzeria Berberè, and would be interested to taste their pizzas year-round, as they change their menu based on the seasonality of the ingredients. This is a great restaurant to go with friends to try a bunch of different pizzas, made with fresh, local ingredients.
