Pizzeria O’Munaciello

Review by Olivia Angerosa, Morgan English, Marissa Moorhead, Bridget Moran
For our second food critique, our group was assigned the pizzeria, O’Munaciello. We liked how it felt cozy and not too fancy, yet not too casual.
Before our meal, the waiter brought us a complimentary appetizer. We were all a little bit confused about this at first because it looked like just one bite of something on a spoon. However, we later learned it is called an amuse bouche. We all concluded that it was pretty good, but we probably would not have ordered it on our own. The bite consisted of ricotta, potato, and seeds to top it. For appetizers, we started off our meal with the “Fried Pizza” which is a type of fried dough, and the “Potato Croquette” which we liked better.
AS for the pizza, we chose to try the margherita pizza, which we thought it was very good! It was very thin through the middle with a thick fluffy crust, and the sauce was sweet with a little tang to it. We also tried the Genovese pizza: Though the cherry tomatoes that topped the pizza were not amazing, the pesto was delicious, and the combination of mozzarella and parmesan was amazing with the perfectly salted crust. Lastly. we tried the pizza with tomato sauce and mozzarella, with a ricotta cheese and spinach stuffed crust! We thought the pizza was very good and quite filling, thanks to the crust. The pizza itself was quite thin but the crust was very thick and fluffy. We were also interested to try the special black crust that helps with the digestive system and meant to order it with her pizza but forgot to do so.
We so decided to try something other than pizza and ordered “A Parmigiana di Melanzane” along with the “Insalata Mista”. The size of the eggplant parmesan was perfect, being not too big, and it was especially delicious. The salad was also satisfying, consisting of fennel, mozzarella, cherry tomatoes and carrots. The salad was served in a large bowl, making a decent portion size. Compared to most other side salads this has been the largest portion we have had so far in Italy!
Overall, we all thought it was a pleasant experience, and would return for another meal. We enjoyed the atmosphere, concluded that the prices were reasonable and that the service was good. A great experience with an even better pizza!
