Week 3 in Florence focuses on Queens College and our long-awaited departure for the NYC! Special Event Management and PR Team Member Rachel Murphy talks about the first event on the TuttoToscana schedule at Queens. Keep reading to find out more about Queens College presentation.
Queens College is the first stop for the TuttoToscana team; there we will be presenting about cooking light to Nutrition students. The day begins with the part of the team giving a presentation to the class about FUA, TuttoToscana (and about the Contemporary Chianti theme), health benefits of the Mediterranean diet, and health benefits of wine. After the lecture the students will then work with the TuttoToscana team creating four dishes showing a traditional and light version.
Queens College is a part of The City University of New York (CUNY) that serves over 500,000 students in undergraduate and graduate programs in twenty four institutions. In 1847, CUNY was created for a public institution for higher education and has evolved to meet the “diverse and growing needs of an ever-changing city”. In the 1937 the multiple branches nearby Queens, merged to create one seventy seven acre campus.
FUA hosts many of the school’s students when they for study abroad sessions in January. As the institution has done often in the past eight years, Apicius faculty members will make a stop at Queens to demonstrate different Tuscan cooking techniques to the students of the meal management and planning class on October 23. TuttoToscana student team members will be the protagonists of this year’s on-campus demo as they will both lecture and lead the demo with the assistance of the chef faculty members.
